Video Production at Ivy Hill

Some individuals seem to radiate a special glow as they walk through life. We seek out these luminaries to be featured guests at the Ivy Hill salons. In recording their conversations, our video team focuses on capturing their unique light.

The primary mission of our video team is to record the Ivy Hill programs. We also accept professional opportunities that are not inconsistent with the Ivy Hill philosophy of living gently on the earth.

Every member of our video production team is qualified in both digital videography and non-linear editing. We work with three 3-CCD Canon XL digital camcorders on Bogen-Manfrotto mounts, comprising #3066 fluid heads, #3068 tripods, and #3067 video dollies. All three cameras are equipped with stereo omni mikes. During a studio shoot, the center camera is fitted with a Canon 3x XL wide-angle lens, and the left and right-side cameras are equipped with Azden WR22-PRO discrete 2-channel VHF wireless receivers. Up to four talents can be recorded with Azden WL/T-PRO lavaliere microphones. Additional video is taped with three Canon ZR digital camcorders, either on Velbon 607 Videomate tripods or hand-held. Two three-step ladders are used to obtain high-left and high-right supporting video. Lowell lighting equipment and Photoflex reflectors complete the equipment suite.

Donna Editing by Diane O'Neill

No video or audio mixing is done live, so that all of the video and audio tracks are fully recorded, and are available for post-production use. Consequently, the editing process is very labor-intensive, compared to the live-mix technique used for analog video, but the editors can choose each segment from a much richer selection of material, composing a better final product. A Dell Millenium system with 512 Megabytes of RDRAM and 480 Gigabytes of hard drive capacity is used for editing.

"Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and ye shall find; knock,
and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to
him that knocketh it shall be opened."
