Pets at Ivy Hill

Guinness by Taylor Branson
Ivy Hill not only enjoys the company of birds, squirrels, and other wild animals, but also the friendship of two household pets. Guinness is a velvety tan and brown mostly Siamese cat who quietly patrols the house silently evaluating everyone and everything. His blue eyes don't miss anything. While making his rounds he just might let you give him a friendly scratch behind the ears or a quick stroke along his sleek back. When satisfied that all is well he calmly falls asleep anywhere he pleases, often on someone's lap.

Angus by Gary O'Neill Angus is a lively, friendly West Highland terrier who zealously guards the house but wins the heart of everyone. He is a white ball of energy who barks and bounces until he tires himself and then he likes to rest where the crowd is. His favorite resting place is under the kitchen table surrounded by the feet of his human friends.

Squirrel by Nancy Matthis

Both Guinness and Angus were adopted. We passionately believe in giving a home to animals who might otherwise not have one. With the thousands of homeless animals in our country who need love and caring, adoption makes much more sense than giving financial support and motivation to "puppy mills". We emphatically advocate responsible pet ownership in densely developed suburbs. Guinness is not allowed to run outdoors and decimate the local songbird population. Angus goes for a brisk daily walk on a leash, and is only allowed to run free in our local dog parks.

You will often see Guinness and Angus in our videos. They are both a central part of life at Ivy Hill, and our virtual guests will meet them. Also, they both have a huge sense of entitlement. If we didn't include them, the outraged yowling and barking from the next room would ruin our soundtrack.

for a link to the greater, and in return,
the higher always protects the lower."
