About Ivy Hill

House and Hill by Taylor Branson
We want to share with you the ways in which we conform Ivy Hill to express our growing spiritual understanding of the meaning of home. We believe that a good home should offer the solace of physical beauty and the stimulus of metaphysical inspiration. Ivy Hill has evolved as both a physical location and a metaphysical perspective.

It is a Williamsburg-style residence situated atop a hillside covered with English ivy and dogwood trees. Its attributes reflect a commitment to living in harmony with the earth. Specific design and maintenance techniques demonstrate how this can be accomplished within a densely developed residential area while keeping an aesthetic level commensurate with the neighborhood. Our Virginia lifestyle draws on the resources of the region from the Appalachian Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay. Local traditions are reflected in our vegetarian kitchen and organic gardens. Strains of mountain dulcimer music fill the house.

Ivy Hill facilitates a ministry of hospitality within which guests may study, do research, and share conversations regarding human potential. Invited guests represent a broad spectrum of professional disciplines, spiritual philosophies, and cultural backgrounds. Their discussions are characterized by open-mindedness, a sense of possibilities, and freedom from orthodoxy.

"...knowing a variety of paths is very useful. Broaden your knowledge....In order to pass through life, there is the need to have a spirit, to be decisive about exerting all of one's energies....sharpening your intuitive sense and your powers of observation day and night..."
